Final of the German Team Championships 2022/23
In the final of the German Team Championships in wrestling 2022/23 the clubs ASV Mainz 88 and ASV Schorndorf will face each other. For ASV Schorndorf it is the second final after 48 years. The team surprisingly defeated series winner SV Wacker Burghausen. For ASV Mainz, who is in the final again like last year, it will not be an easy task, because no team in this year’s Bundesliga has a large and broad squad like ASV Schorndorf.

Update
The first fight was contested by Beka Bujiashvili from Georgia against Engin Cetin from Turkey. Bujiashvili clearly dominated his opponent and won by technical superiority for ASV Mainz. Interesting was also the match between Murad Kuramagomedov and Shamil Ustaev, in which Kuramagomedov managed a nice throw right at the beginning. He also won for Mainz with a score of 9:0. In the last fight of the first final encounter Mohammad Damankhoshk fighting for Mainz was disqualified after he used footwork twice when Iuri Lomadze from ASV Schorndorf lifted him out for a suplex.

Update
ASV Mainz won the German championship with a mere two-point lead. After 2013 it is the fourth title altogether. Among the highlights was the fight between Georgi Vangelow and Beka Bujiashvili, in which Vangelow from Schorndorf initially took only a 2:0 lead, but in the second half clearly dominated his opponent and made him despair. Exciting was also the fight between Shamil Ustaev and Aleksander Semisorov, who both met at eye level.
